about

Written and recorded over the past three+ years in multiple locations including a hotel hallway during peak quarantine, Bummer Proof describes the push+pull feeling of melancholy and all its ups, downs, stagnation, isolation, and triumph, captured with weeping pedal steel and wailing slide guitar. Influenced by Neil Young as much as Alex G, this is the sunny side of sadness.

lyrics

I feel like I should fade away
Into the passing of the day
you're the only way I stay ok
you hold it all together babe

tamper down my expectations
the challenge is the destination
you can't always make it on the first try
I'm right here, I'll always be I'm yours you see

when will I be bummer proof?
(I got no worries)
answer me like you're supposed to do
(not in a hurry)
I said the things that you want me to
(I'm so free like the air that we breathe, like your love for me)

So tell me what's the play, are we wrong what would you say
nothing is ever simple
it always falls apart
memories are dangerous
do you fear them in your heart?

when will I be bummer proof?
(I got no worries)
answer me like you're supposed to do
(not in a hurry for some thing)
I said the things that you want me to
(I'm so free like the air that we breathe, like your love for me)
